2014-2015 is the centenary year of the magnificent Rosario Cathedral building. Keeping this background the Annual feast of our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral was celebrated on 12th Sunday 2014 at Rosario cathedral. Very Rev Pius D’ Souza the Episcopal Vicar for the Religious was the main celebrant. The theme of his homily was ‘Temple of the Lord is the Palace of Peace’.
Masses were arranged for the Malayalam and English peaking people. A large crowd of devotees were present for the Malayalam Mass. During the Malayalam mass nearly 40 people participated in the offertory procession. Fr Joy Painadath the professor of the St Joseph’s seminary was the Main celebrant and the Fr Biju preached the homily. Fr Prashanth Madtha the director of the Retreat House was the main celebrant for the English Mass who also preached the a meaningful Homily on Mary’s ‘Magnificent’.
The liturgy of the thriduum and the feast day was conducted by the members of the various wards and by the members of the Pastoral Parished. Mr Dolphy D Souza the Vice president and the Secretary Mr John D Silva of the Pastoral Parished took the initiative in arranging the liturgy. Fr Amith Rodrigues the assistant parish priest who planned and organized the whole liturgy of the week.
Prior to the feast on Tuesday Rev Fr Stany Goveas from Gulbarga diocese and the former parish priests celebrated the evening Mass. After the mass a candle light procession was taken inside the campus in honour of our lady of the Holy Rosary. Three days from 8th to 10th ‘thriduum’ was conducted by Fr Santhosh Rodrigues the director of Diocesan Family Life Service Centre. He preached on ‘Family is gift of God’, ‘Peace in the Family’ and ‘Reconciliation in the Family’.
The annual feast was inaugurated on 8th Wednesday by hosting the Marian Flag by Fr JBCrasta the parish priest. Through the leadership of Mr John Lobo the youth namely Rosario Youth Movement conducted various games and lucky draws. Mr Anthony D Sliva, Mr Sebastian D Sliva and Miss Joy Monteiro took up the leadership in conducting the Church Choir.
Fr William Menezes the PRO of the diocese and Fr Roshan Crasta and Fr Rudolph D Sa, Fr Rocky Fernandes, Fr Alwyn Serrao and other priests were present for the main Mass.
